Slick Rock Recreation Area Celebration this Saturday

The Army Corps of Engineers, in conjunction with the Sequoia Foothills Chamber of Commerce, is having an opening celebration for the new Slick Rock Recreation Area at Lake Kaweah on July 4 from 12-4 pm.  Billed as an Old Fashioned Family Fun Day, there will be a BBQ (offered by the Village Market),  a homemade ice cream making contest (bring your favorite ice cream) and a fishing derby for children.

July 4th will be a fee free day at the Slick Rock area only.

It takes a village…

The blog plan is to share stories about what it means to live, work and play in Three Rivers.  This could include stories from both residents and visitors.  Nature would have a lot to say if it actually used words for story-telling. What’s your life like here?

Three Rivers’ Author Book Signing

book cover_cropped_001_resampledChristy Wood of Wood N’Horse Training Stables will be signing her new book on July 5, 2009, from 1-4 pm at Anne Lang’s Emporium. Your Best Horse Show: a Guide for Managers and Exhibition is debuting this month.

Christy writes in the book, “…I have competed in open shows, schooling shows, regional and state breed shows, and world and national breed shows. I have competed from California to Florida and internationally.  Many of these shows are not remembered in detail except by looking at my trophy shelf with a a smile.”

She offers riding instruction to youth and amateur riders from beginners to advanced levels at her stables on North Fork Drive in Three Rivers.

Lavender Harvest Sale

images-3Barbara Lahmann at the Livingston Lavendar Gardens is hosting the second Saturday of her annual harvest sale on June 20, 2009. The public is invited to tour the gardens, purchase lavendar bundles and sample lavender refreshments from 8am to 12 noon.   Lahmann says, “I am developing lavendar gardens surrounding our home for tours and lavender-harvest sales. I have planted lavendar gardens with over 20 varieties for display.” The gardens are located at 43927 Kaweah River Drive in Three Rivers, CA.  Call 559-561-4190 for more information.
